Silvermines Men’s Shed is a welcoming, community‑focused space where men aged 18 and over come together to share skills, work on projects, enjoy company, and support one another. The Shed provides a relaxed, friendly environment that encourages creativity, conversation, and connection.

🤝 What We’re About

The Men’s Shed movement is built on the idea that men benefit from having a place to meet, talk, and work shoulder‑to‑shoulder. In Silvermines, the Shed has become an important social hub, offering a sense of belonging and purpose through practical activities and shared interests.

🧰 Activities & Projects

Members take part in a wide range of hands‑on projects, from woodworking and repairs to community initiatives that benefit the wider local area. Typical activities include:

  • Woodworking and small carpentry projects
  • Restoration and repair of tools, furniture, and equipment
  • Craft work and creative projects
  • Peer‑to‑peer learning and skills exchange in a relaxed setting
  • Community support projects in partnership with local groups
  • Informal social gatherings, discussions, and wellbeing check‑ins

The Silvermines Men’s Shed plays an active role in supporting local organisations, events, and community spaces. Members regularly collaborate with groups such as Silvermines Tidy Towns, the Community Centre, and other local initiatives, contributing practical help and craftsmanship where needed.

The Shed is open to men aged 18 and over, regardless of background, skills, or experience. Whether you’re confident with tools or simply looking for company and conversation, you’ll find a warm welcome. The focus is on wellbeing, friendship, and enjoying time together.

New members are always encouraged to drop in, have a chat, and see what the Shed is all about. There is no pressure to commit — you can take part as much or as little as you like.

The Silvermines Men’s Shed operates from a dedicated workshop space equipped with tools, benches, and materials for a variety of projects. The environment is safe, supportive, and designed to encourage creativity and collaboration.
