The Uisce Éireann proposals to pipe 350 million litres of water each day from the Shannon at Parteen in North Tipp to Dublin is currently before the state planning appeals board An Coimisiún Pleanala.

Tipperary County Council is currently preparing its submission on the plans.

Ballina based Cllr Bugler has spoken to Council CEO Sinead Carr to highlight her concerns.

“The one thing you and I don’t want is a legacy of a beautiful lake that’s destroyed for the next generation.

“I’m very worried that the only thing Tipperary County Council are only thinking of the few million that they may get which I call the 30 pieces of silver. So I’m saying to Sinead Carr and everyone in planning in Tipperary County Council do not sell us out, do not destroy our lake for the sake of a couple of million Euro. Our children, our grandchildren in this area will all regret this.”
