A major musical occasion is set to take centre stage in Nenagh this May Bank Holiday, as acclaimed Irish singer and musician Michael English performs a special fundraising concert in the Church of St. Mary of the Rosary. The event, taking place on Monday, 4 May, is expected to draw a large audience from across Tipperary and beyond, with proceeds going to two charities providing vital support to individuals and families nationwide: Pieta and Sarcoma Cancer Ireland.

The concert has been organised by local volunteers who say the evening will combine exceptional entertainment with a strong message of solidarity, compassion, and community spirit. The choice of venue — the historic and architecturally striking Church of St. Mary of the Rosary — is expected to add a unique atmosphere to the performance, offering audiences an intimate musical experience in a setting renowned for its acoustics and beauty.

Michael English, known for his energetic stage presence, heartfelt ballads, and warm connection with audiences, has long been a favourite among Irish music fans. His decision to support this fundraising initiative has been warmly welcomed by organisers, who say his involvement will significantly boost awareness and support for the two beneficiary charities.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Michael English to Nenagh for what promises to be a truly memorable evening,” said one of the event coordinators. “Both Pieta and Sarcoma Cancer Ireland carry out extraordinary work, and this concert is an opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy wonderful music, and contribute to causes that make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Pieta continues to provide free, nationwide services for people experiencing suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm, while also supporting families and communities affected by suicide. Sarcoma Cancer Ireland, meanwhile, works to raise awareness of sarcoma — a rare and often misunderstood form of cancer — while funding research and offering support to patients and their loved ones.

Organisers say the demand for tickets has already been strong, with many local groups, parishioners, and music enthusiasts eager to support the event. Tickets are priced at €30 and are available from the Nenagh Parish Office, local outlets, and online at michaelenglish.ie. They can also be purchased by contacting Christine Nevin (086 3580856) or Geraldine Hilmi (087 9023899).

Doors will open at 7pm, with the concert beginning at 8pm. Seating will be unreserved, encouraging attendees to arrive early and enjoy the atmosphere of the church before the performance begins.

Local businesses and community organisations have also expressed support for the initiative, with many highlighting the importance of fundraising events that bring people together while contributing to essential services. The concert is expected not only to raise funds but also to strengthen community ties and highlight the ongoing need for mental health and cancer support services across Ireland.

As the date approaches, excitement continues to build for what promises to be a standout event in Nenagh’s cultural calendar — a night of music, reflection, and community generosity.
